Such a lovely downhill portion on a single track. Depending on the season, the fields, vegetation and colours vary significantly. Beautiful area. Great memories going through wheat-fields.

View from Plumpton Bostal

Highlight • Climb

Plumpton Bostal is a particularly tough climb and descent, as the road surface is a mixture of broken tarmac, concrete and some areas of just rubble. This, combined with its steep gradient, make it one of the more challenging of the Sussex bostals.

The Half Moon pub at the bottom is well worth calling in at!

The Half Moon Inn in Plumpton

Highlight • Settlement

Plumpton is a charming village of two halves. The southern end of the village is cut across by the South Downs Way near the site of an Early Bronze Age settlement. North of the track is a chalk-cross with a sandstone block at its centre, which commemorates the Battle of Lewes in 1264.
