As a result of the Reformation doctrine that the salvation of our souls is not tied to the veneration of the saints, all crosses and wayside shrines were removed in the county after 1527.
It was not until 1820 that a wayside shrine was again donated and established in Dusemond (Brauneberg since 1820) based on the following event:
During this time, a Dusemonder citizen suddenly found himself in a devastating downpour on his way home from the grain field. The storm was so violent and the rain so strong that the man with cattle and wagon was washed down the ravine at the time. In his need, he vowed to set up a wayside shrine if he would get out of this storm unharmed - which then happened. The rescued dedicated this wayside shrine to Saint Donatus, the patron saint of thunderstorms and storms. To this day this district is popularly known as "Beim Bildchen"

The 12.50 meter high tower with its orange edges and window frames can be seen from afar and is the landmark of Filzen. The tower dates from the 11th century and is thus one of the oldest structures in the Bernkastel-Wittlich district. In the church you can admire an ornate high altar. The community of nuns was dissolved in 1810 under the occupation of Napoleon.
