Impressive, the trail leads over bridges built on the rock.

Southernmost Apple Tree of Bad Goisern

Highlight • Natural Monument

The tree is looked after by the OGV, and any hiker who wants to can taste the ripe fruit. Currently they are varieties Roter Mond and Swiss Orange Apple grafted on the tree. More will follow.

Hallstatt

Highlight • Settlement

A really idyllic place with many historical buildings that tell of the old times, when the wealth was achieved here through the salt deposits and their mining. Today it is a place for excursions that can only be reached via the quayside or by boat. Parking is problematic, almost impossible in the village itself. Hallstatt is very popular with tourists, a large part of them come from China, where there is a replica of the world-famous world cultural heritage.

You could look at it forever. And with the swans, it's almost too kitschy 👍🤗

Arrived the day before and stayed overnight in Bad Ischl. IC from Graz to Stainach-Irdning, then continued with the SEV to Steeg-Gosau. Well organized, train waits for bus...
Fantastic weather, the forecast was 9L of rain. It didn't even rain for an hour while we were on the road.

Showing Translation

Unfortunately, I had to take the bus for two stops. The hiking trail was closed, and the only way would have been via a main road with no sidewalk....

Showing Translation

I started in St Agatha and went anti-clockwise. Better because of the sun.
From km 2 - 8 it goes along the road but later on the east bank there is a beautiful path.
All in all a great day 🇦🇹☀️🍂🏔️😇

The last of the Ten Largest Lakes Challenge 🤗 very beautiful route around the lake, with a stopover in Hallstatt where there was a lot going on and at the end we got caught in the rain ☔️

Showing Translation

Taking the boat from Hallstatt to the train station, then following the eastern shore hiking trail to Steeg, is highly recommended. The beautiful forest path from Steeg to Hallstatt is unfortunately closed due to rockfall. It's a shame.
