In 1617 the nave was renewed by Heinrich Schickhardt. During the Palatinate War of Succession, the church was set on fire by the French in 1689 and rebuilt under the direction of master builder Anton Petri until 1704.
In the town fire of 1739, the church was again badly damaged and rebuilt by master builder Bartholomäus Keßler by 1742. Today's nave and choir were created during the last major renovation under master builder Johann Martin Jacobi in 1788.
