Ecumenical chapel

Highlight • Religious Site

The Käpelle, also called Käppele, Our Käpelle and Friedenskapelle and stands on the left slope of the Oberen Schlichemtal in the Baden-Württemberg Zollernalb district in Germany. The Käpelle was built on the district boundary of Tieringen and Hausen am Tann on the old connecting road, which today is part of a popular circular hiking trail. This leads from Tieringen, past the Käpelle home, and along the Schlichem back to Tieringen. In 2007, the association Unser Käpelle e. V. founded. A Tieringer took the initiative and the idea of building a chapel of thanksgiving and peace was realized with the help of citizens from Tieringen and Hausen. The idea came about through the long friendship and joint activities of the two villages, although the residents belong to different denominations. Both communities participated equally in the construction, and so the chapel could be inaugurated on May 1st, 2010 thanks to many donations and helpers. Inside the chapel there is a plaque with the donors.

Waldschenke at Schömberg Reservoir

Highlight • Restaurant

You can not only stop off at the Waldschenke at the Schömberg reservoir, but also rent a boat for a short trip around the reservoir or spend time in the adjacent miniature village. Children also enjoy the petting zoo. An ideal break on any bike tour!

Schömberg reservoir

Highlight • Lake

The reservoir is very idyllic in the valley of Schllichen with swimming, pedal boat rental and refreshments. A circular path leads around the lake. Nearby there is a small amusement park for children and a miniature golf course. At the parking lot at the dam there is a power station for e-bikes.

Schömberg Reservoir

Highlight • Lake

The small Schlichemtalsperre or reservoir called Schömberg was originally created to generate electricity. Today, a free swimming spot invites you to swim after a strenuous tour.

Lochen Pass

Highlight • Mountain Pass

For racing cyclists very popular "passport" in the region. The two most striking points are the Lochenstein (962.9 meters) and the Lochenhörnle (956.4 meters). In summer, the driveway of Weilstetten is closed to motorbikes on weekends and public holidays.
A special feature of a mountain of the Swabian Alb is the summit cross on an exposed rock with good visibility, a custom that is otherwise more likely to be found in alpine regions. The plateau of the holes was site of prehistoric hill settlements. In about 20 minutes you have run up from the pass on the Lochenstein.

Cycle Path Between Tieringen and Oberdigisheim

Highlight (Segment) • Cycleway

An alternative to the road is this cycle path. There is no obligation to use it, but there is a lot of truck traffic on the road, so I would prefer to use this cycle path.
Asphalt is good, it rolls well!
