Weather Shooting Hut Gumpoldskirchen

Around 1900, twelve weather shooting huts were set up in the Gumpoldskirchner mountains. They had inside a böllerartige device in which gunpowder could be detonated. The resulting explosion pressure escaped through a powerful horn. It was thought that this would cause the premature discharge of thunderstorms and hail clouds.
