Edelweiss Hut (Preiner Gscheid)

The Edelweisshütte is a popular meeting point for hikers and bikers on the Preiner Gscheid and can also be reached by bus. The Preiner Gscheid (1,070 meters) is a mountain pass parallel to the Semmering Pass. The border between Lower Austria and Styria runs across the Preiner Gscheid. It takes two hours on foot via the Göbel-Kühn-Steig to the Neue Seehütte or via the Schlangenweg to the Karl-Ludwig-Haus.

Today I went on another snow hike.

From the Preiner Gscheid car park we went up the forest road to the Waxriegelhaus. The path is very pleasant to walk and you are at the foot of the Rax in about 1 hour 30 minutes.

Today a nice tour on the Rax in fantastic weather.

From the Preiner Gscheid to the Waxriegelhaus with a detour to the Entenhügel (a small climbing rock with a ladder).

From the parking lot of the Edelweißhütte we walked the red marked path (No. 829). In winter you should definitely take a toboggan with you, you can then whiz down almost the whole way. We then went over the Helenenquelle to the Waxriegelhaus, and finally over the Waxriegelsteig to the lookout point.
