Very beautiful wine village with many half-timbered houses.
The village center is surrounded by two ring roads, which were created by two town walls. Eguisheim is also called "Zwiebeslstadt" (onion town) because the streets are laid out in a ring around the central castle.
Pope Leo IX, who introduced celibacy in the Catholic Church, among other things, comes from Eguisheim.
