A nice quiet road north of Mont Ventoux. This side is often forgotten by cyclists, preferring to ride south of Bedoin, however this side is certainly worth the detour.

Sault

Highlight • Settlement

Located at an altitude of 800 meters, Sault is known for its lavender fields, and for being one of the three starting villages for the ascent of Mont Ventoux, the other two being Bédoin and Malaucène. The climb through Sault is easier compared to the other two villages, because this town is located higher up.

Nice tunnel

Highlight • Other

All in all, a dream route, even through these natural tunnels. But watch out for oncoming traffic. It's all quite narrow here and very busy in high season. And you don't want to fall into the Gorges de la Nesque, that would have been the last exit...

View of Mont Ventoux

Highlight • Viewpoint

You see it soon enough and it's always beautiful. And when you're already at the top, you remember the pain and hope that the wind doesn't come from the front on the last 6km from Reynard ,-)

Col de la Madeleine

Pretty pass with superb landscapes of surrounding vineyards. A good warm-up before Ventoux, and a must between Bédoin and Malaucène.

October 15, 2022,Rund Mont Ventoux mit Gorges de la Nesque
Once around Mont Ventoux with a nice descent along the Gorges de la Nesque. Of course, a café crème with an Orangina in Aurel should not be missing.

I hadn't been on the road long when I came across a road closure.
It was just strange that it was even "manned".

A nice lady approached me with a notepad and a walkie-talkie and explained that I would have to wait about five minutes, then the route would be clear again.

While I was cycling along peacefully, a group of 4 cyclists overtook me, saying "stop the leisurely ride, take the wheel": which I did xD.
They were very nice, I rode with them for about 30km.
I lost them on the descent of the Gorges de la Nesque 🙃 There were other cyclists and I got caught out, I didn't …

Still my favorite loop from Bédoin. Coffee along the way and then a water bottle refill at a spring. Beautiful climbs and especially lovely descents.

Hello Weekend, hello headwind & a Mont Ventoux covered in snow from all sides! 🏔🍃🍁🌞🌊

Loop from Sault. Tour as close as possible to the Ventoux massif. You can start the loop from wherever you want, actually.

Showing Translation

From Bédoin you can also take a relaxed tour to Sault and Malaucène without crossing the bare mountain in the middle 😉

Testing the extensions. It's square, I spent 50% of my time on it, very comfortable to have an extra position.
