Dechow Community House

Highlight • Rest Area

The guest house is only rented to groups from 2 NIGHTS, not to individuals. It is located on the entire upper floor of the house. Not barrier-free. WLAN free.
The guest house has an area of 482 square meters. There are 6 multi-bed rooms that are equipped with robust real wood bunk beds.

The spacious lounge and dining room not only has a fully equipped kitchen with dishes and dishwasher, it also offers a stylish, modern ambience with its gallery, which contrasts with the bright yellow painted walls. Here you can also endure a rainy afternoon. Since June 2012 a leisure room (10x5m) has been made available with table tennis, air hockey, table football, billiard table, darts and board games.

Outside: basketball hoop, rope (10m), Viking chess kubb, badminton racket

At the house, a football field and a table tennis table invite you to exercise. There is also a fireplace with seating in the immediate vicinity of the house. After about 15 minutes on foot, you will reach our natural swimming area with a jetty. A grill is available for a cozy barbecue evening.

Great resting place with great views of the lake, which is not that far from the road. It's worth making this little detour.

There are not so many lake accesses on the east bank of the Röggeliner See ... here there is one that is also close to the road and offers beautiful views of the lake.

St. John's Church Carlow

Highlight • Religious Site

The oldest part, the Qudratian choir made of fieldstone, dates from the 13th century. The nave and the tower were built from 1885 to 1889 and designed according to the taste of the time neo-Gothic in brick

Inside the church there is an altarpiece from 1695 with carvings. In the main field, an oval painting was placed in 1885 showing the crucifixion scene. The pulpit is also from the year 1695. The pulpit basket is decorated with twisted columns and carved figures of the evangelists. Above the triumphal arch is a group of crucifixes from the beginning of the 16th century. The votive tablets of the Ratzeburgwer Domdechanten Hartwich von Bülow from 1637 are a work of the Baroque sculptor Gebhard Jürgen Titge.

Demern Manor

Highlight • Historical Site

A beautiful, old manor that had seen better days, but still has charm. You can make something of it with investments. Hopefully someone will be found so that he will stay with us for a long time to come.

St. Peter's Church in Demern

Highlight • Religious Site

The village church in Demern is a brick Gothic church building in Northwest Mecklenburg. In the Ratzeburg tithe register, Demern is still described in 1320 as a village belonging to the parish of Carlow, thus having no parish church of its own. However, in 1335, the community already contributed the tax of a parish village to the Bishopric of Ratzeburg.
After the Reformation, the first visitation took place in 1581 under the direction of the Lübeck superintendent Andreas Pouchenius. Writings by Niels Hemmingsen were found, the use of which was prohibited due to his proximity to the Calvinists; church attendance was said to be negligent, and singing deficient. During another visitation in 1599, the church was found to be dilapidated, which led to a thorough renovation in 1611.
The church and village suffered greatly from the consequences of the Thirty Years' War.
The church lost its bells and silver communion vessels;
the village was temporarily completely deserted and the pastorate was vacant for a long time.
In the 19th century, Gottlieb Matthias Carl Masch, known as the Mecklenburg regional historian, was pastor of the church from 1838 to 1878. His predecessor Wilhelm Rudolphi was pastor in Demern from 1820 to 1837 and wrote two Latin textbooks for primary school children. Rudolphi and Masch were buried in the churchyard. Since 1985, the church has been gradually repaired and extensively restored, both internally and externally.
