Bathing Area at Haussee

Highlight • Beach

Very nice swimming spot on the lake, not far from Hausseestraße or from the hiking trail. Close to the beach can also create a boat. The bathing area is characterized by fine gravel into the water, shady it is by pine trees and a small bathing pier with a ladder in the middle of the water round off the bathing area. At the existing covered snack bar you can sit, dine or play cards.

Haussee (Himmelpfort)

Highlight • Lake

Located directly at Himmelpfort, between the Stolpsee and the Moderfitzsee is the Haussee. Picturesque in nature and beautiful to look at. Here are many possibilities of boat rentals, but also of motor boats. Here you can also find beaches and boat tours are bookable. Not far from the village is the Christmas Post.

Himmelpfort Monastery Ruins

Highlight • Historical Site

This is where Himmelpfort got its name from. In the 13th century, the Cistercian monastery "Coeli Porta" (Heaven's Gate) was founded by Margrave Albrecht. Although the centuries have not been kind to it, there are still some remains to be seen here, and with a little imagination you can imagine the old monastery complex.

Brauhaus Himmelpfort

Highlight • Historical Site

The so-called brewery (location) is a building from the late 14th century with a simple, well-structured blind gable.
As with the monastery church, red brick was used as the building material. It is the only at least partially preserved commercial building of the monastery. Its exact original purpose is unknown.
In 1858, the building was used as a granary. Later it served as a residential building. In 1945, the gable on the southeast side collapsed when the neighboring bridge over the lock ditch leading to the Himmelpfort lock was blown up in the last days of the war. In 2010, the brewery was destroyed by a fire caused by arson, down to the surrounding walls. In 2016, the restoration of the roof began, initially with the securing of the gable, which is of art-historical importance.

Himmelpfort Lock

Highlight • Structure

The first lock between the Haussee and the Stolpsee was built in connection with the navigability of the Woblitz in 1752. In order to accommodate the growing shipping on the waters there, a lock was built between 1879 and 1882 according to the Finow standard, reconstructed in 1907 and renovated and rebuilt in 1976. Before the reconstruction in 1976, the lock chamber had sloping gravity walls made of bricks with driven wooden piles for mooring the ships.

Nice that the bridge is there. But if you have a lot of luggage, it means: UNLOAD!
