Fledborough Viaduct

Highlight • Historical Site

The Trent can be crossed at Torksey, there is also an old viaduct there. The only trouble is that it has a stile and steps at each end. At the Cottam side it is a grass field then a rough track that leads to Rampton. Sustrans is working on it.

Harby marks the start (if you're heading West) or end (if you're heading East) of the Dukeries Trail. Heading West you will find a great section of hardpacked gravel cycle route.

The section heading East is NCN Route 64 and continues to follow the route of a disused railway line heading into Lincoln. The section is also entirely traffic free and the surface is smooth tarmac.

Worth putting your nose into Harby church to see this. Eleanor's heart is preserved in Lincoln cathedral but her body was transported to London. At every overnight stop her husband, Edward 1(?), erected a cross, hence Waltham Cross, Charing Cross and 10 others.
