Emster Canal

Highlight • River

The Emster Canal or Emster Waters is the canal-like river Emster, the lake stretches over the Lehniner Klostersee, the Netzener See and the Rietzer See as well as the artificially created canal sections between today's municipality of Kloster Lehnin and the Havel in the area of the city of Brandenburg denotes the Havel.

In this section it connects the Netzener See with the Rietzer See and leads along the Strengsee with its marshy salt marshes. Part of the riverside path on the canal runs over a flood protection dike.

Netzener See

Highlight • Lake

The Netzener See is about 2.4 km long and about 1,100 meters wide at its widest point between the districts of Netzen and Trechwitz. Its narrowest point is barely 250 meters. The average depth is 2 m.

The banks are lined with reeds and it is only easily accessible in one place. There is a bathing area and the landing stage of a small passenger ship. Due to untreated nutrient input into the water, there has been an increased bloom of blue-green algae in recent years and thus a deterioration in the water quality.

Challenging and varied tour. The way there ran along the pilgrimage route and was the most beautiful part in my opinion. Idyllic, historic and with a great, seemingly endless forest area next to the motorway. It was so contrasting (noise and peace) that it was fascinating again. On the way back on the tour there is another wonderful place, the …

A really great route... you can walk or run along this trail... it's great. On warmer days, I recommend swimming because there are plenty of wild spots 🙃😉 as well as places for regular sunbathing.
