The monument was created by sculptor Fritz Røed from Bryne and was unveiled by King Olav V of Norway in 1983. The three bronze swords stand 10 metres (33 ft) tall and are planted into the rock of a small hill next to the fjord. They commemorate the historic Battle of Hafrsfjord which by tradition took place there in the year 872 when King Harald Fairhair gathered all of Norway under one crown. The largest sword represents the victorious Harald, and the two smaller swords represent the defeated petty kings. The monument also represents peace, since the swords are planted into solid rock, so they may never be removed.

Beach and recreational area in historical surroundings from the Viking period in Hafrsfjord. The area is located close to Madlaveien south of Madlaleiren. A small river from Store Stokkavatn flows through the beach area. The monument Sverd i fjell (Swords in Rock) made by Fritz Røed, is a monument to commemorate the battle of Hafrsfjord that unified Norway into one kingdom in 872. It is located near the beach.

Håhammaren Bridge

For years, the Håhammaren loop trail, had missing a link to join the northern and southern parts of the trail. This bridge has been built in that purpose but alos to create a landmark and a place to gather hikers and locals. The idea was also to respect the natural site by creating something without destroying another thing.
