Grummer Ponds

The Grumbeckteich is one of several ponds in the Bochum district of Grumme. The Grummer Ponds, also popularly known as the Grummer Lake District, are a series of ten ponds, fed by the Grummer Bach and its tributaries Rottmannsbach, Schmalebecke and Albecke. They are primarily used to store rainwater or as flood protection. Due to the natural design of the facility, they are also a popular local recreation area. The city of Bochum has designated it as a landscape protection area. The ponds include the Rottmannsteich, the Aggerteich, the Bigge, Grume and Kötterteich, the Grumbeckteich, the Kaiseraueteich, the Constantin-, Mühlen- and Tipulusteich.
