Gibson Mill

Highlight • Rest Area

Showcasing sustainable building this site is entirely off grid and powered by Hebden Water hydro. Owned and managed by the National Trust there is plenty of information about the mill’s history, the dale and how it is being managed sustainably. There are also toilets and a cafe.
Open seasonally normally from 10:00 - 15:00 but only Fri, Sat and Sun in the winter.

Amid 400 acres of unspoilt woodland Hardcastle crags are Millstone grit stacks that form a couple of exposures and ridges above Hebden Water. The paths weave in between them and you can scramble onto some of the tops for wonderful valley views.
Managed by the National Trust.

Hardcastle Crags Woods

Highlight • Trail

This little path is often a bit overgrown but well worth the effort for the fun scramble along the rocks that form Hardcastle Crag. It's a detour from the main valley trail, signed and managed by the National Trust.

Top Withins Ruins

Highlight • Structure

Top Withens is a ruined farmhouse on remote moorland that was the inspiration for the location of the Earnshaw family house in Wuthering Heights in the novel by Emily Brontë.

This waterfall is a must-see for any fans of the Brontë sisters. A few miles from Haworth, where they grew up, the waterfall was a place the sisters visited to talk of their literary fantasies, which eventually became their own works of classic literature. The scenery is truly spectacular around this area with wonderful views over the Worth Valley.

Highlight • Historical Site

Lovely view of The Valley and Heptonstall in the Background. The stones from the ruin make a nice spot to sit and rest when the ground is wet.
