Kreuzsee and Wangenitzsee

Highlight • Lake

Crystal clear high mountain lakes, but very cold. The Wangenitzsee can also be circumnavigated. In addition to the two lakes mentioned, there are numerous small pools and swampy areas, which makes this area very attractive.

August 9, 2025,Traumtour: Wanderung zur Wangenitzseehütte
There are tours that are worth every strenuous meter. 🥰
The hike to the Wangenitzseehütte is one such tour. From the starting point in the Debanttal valley, two steep terrain steps must be negotiated, finally leading up to the Untere Seescharte in seemingly endless switchbacks. But the panorama that awaits here is a dream. Magnificent. Breathtaking.

Beautiful tour that we started early because of the heat. The destination was Wangenitzsee, which is normally frozen 9 out of 12 months. Today some even went swimming in 13 degree water temperature
