The portal of the Taconera was built in 1666 as part of the new walled enclosure of Pamplona, representing the northwest limit of the fortifications built in this city during the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
In 1906 it was dismantled on the occasion of the First Widening, to facilitate the passage of vehicles. It was kept for 97 years in a municipal warehouse, and was successfully replaced in 2002.
The portal of the Taconera was twin of the portal of San Nicolás. It was protected by the disappeared revellín de la Taconera. The tombstone he had is preserved in the gardens of Antoniutti, placed as a monument.
