Walter Ewoldt Bridge

Highlight • Bridge

Beautiful, curved bridge over the railway line. It's just a shame that you have to carry your bike up and down here. Or you can easily take a long detour. Everyone the way he likes it

Right at the junction of Lake Kirchsee and Lake Lanker, through which the Schwentine River flows on its way from the Bungsberg to its mouth in the Kiel Fjord, there is a bridge and a small bay in front of it with sun loungers and benches for relaxing. From there, you have a view over Lake Kirchsee all the way to the town church.

The bridge leads to the other shore, where you can continue walking along Lake Kirchsee to the town church.

There are also hiking and cycling trails that continue to the Lanker See swimming pool or along the Schuster Acht.

It is also possible to climb the Wehrberg, which houses a memorial to those killed in World War I.

View of the church at Kirchsee

Highlight • Viewpoint

From here you have a beautiful view over the Kirchsee, in which the opposite bank is often reflected. After heavy rain, this lake hiking trail is sometimes flooded.

Shoemaker with Dog statue, Preetz

Highlight • Monument

The work of a shoemaker isn't so easy when your dog tries to steal your shoes and even the mice have made themselves at home in your workshop. With a cheerful image and a touch of humor, the detailed sculpture recalls the history of shoemakers in Preetz. Around 1850, the town boasted 150 independent master shoemakers, 360 journeyman shoemakers, and 160 shoemaking apprentices. In addition, there was a large number of clog makers.

Preetz Town Church

Highlight • Religious Site

The town church was originally built as a fortified church on a hill overlooking the Kirchsee (Church Lake) between 1200 and 1210. At that time, the so-called "Limes Saxoniae" (Saxon Limes) was marked by the Schwentine River and the Kirchsee: the area of today's Plön district was among the last regions in Europe that were not yet fully Christianized around 1200. The town church, serving as both a missionary and fortified church, stood on the border with the predominantly pagan population. The late Romanesque fieldstone chancel (circa 1200) also dates from this period. The church's current appearance is characterized by the Baroque style.

Points of interest include: a Romanesque baptismal font from the 13th century, Renaissance chandeliers from the 16th century, bronze crowns from the 17th century, and a suspended baptismal angel from the 18th century.

November 10, 2023,Wanderung "Wie steht's - in Preetz?"
Went to Preetz again and visited a former confirmation candidate and a former employee. A place takes on more soul when you "appropriate" it with knowledgeable people...
Small by-product: Lt. Duden is the genitive of Magnet "des Magnet"! Who would have thought!?

I didn't know that there was such a beautiful park in Preetz. I'm thrilled and will definitely come back in the spring!

With a bright blue sky ☀️ and no wind, we went on foot in wintry weather along the Kirchsee in Preetz to the bathing area at Lanker See.

The Kirchsee and the Lanker See were slightly frozen. A few birds had settled on the small layer of ice. In places the paths on the banks of the Kirchsee were slippery …

We had things to do in Preetz today. It was a good idea to take a little walk between the showers. The Kirchsee was close. The weather, which was nice at first, changed quite quickly. Good for dramatic weather images.
