Casera Collalt

Highlight • Mountain Hut

Casera Collalt (1,238 m above sea level) is a typical mountain hut consisting of two small rural buildings (closed to the public). It stands not far from the hill of the same name (Col Alto), a modest elevation above the Pordenone plain. It is connected to Piancavallo by the service road below (Via Collalto), which comes from the Castaldia radio transmitters.

It is one of the huts along the Piancavallo Alpine Hut Walk, as well as the Policreti Trail (CAI 990A), restored in 2015 to commemorate the original route from Budoia to the Policreti Refuge, the first refuge of the Pordenone Section, destroyed by Nazi-Fascist forces in 1944 and located near the current Alpine Church of Collalto.

Casera del Medico

Casera del Medico (1,220 m above sea level) is located in Pradalto, a small open valley located between Colle delle Lastre and Monte Caseratte. This is a mountain hut complex which was recently renovated, following a three-year redevelopment project (2019-2021). It is owned by the UTI Livenza-Cansiglio-Cavallo, a public body made up of the municipalities of Aviano, Budoia and Caneva. The main building, for residential use, is flanked by 2 rural buildings used as stables. The structure cannot be used by the public and can only be used under concession for grazing.

It is one of the dairy farms touched by the Passeggiata delle Malghe di Piancavallo.
