Sanctuary of the Blessed Virgin of the Rosary (Santo Stino di Livenza)

Highlight • Religious Site

In Santo Stino di Livenza, in the province of Venice, in the splendid setting of the Livenza river, is located the sanctuary dedicated to the Blessed Virgin of the Rosary.
This name is original, derived from the provisions of the testator Antonio Condulmer. Today, the church is commonly called the Church of the Madonna.
The sanctuary was built in 1577, but the first construction dates back to 1525, as expressly declared in the will of Antonio Condulmer who left to his heirs the obligation to build a chapel and a convent for the Dominican friars.
In 1692 the church was destroyed due to the flooding of the Livenza river. Miraculously, the altar dedicated to the Virgin was saved.
In 1904 the sacred building was rebuilt according to a design by the architect Max Ongaro, taking on its current appearance.
Inside we can find the ancient and precious altar, the wooden statue of the Virgin of the Rosary, the Annunciation, by Giuseppe Cherubini, the stained glass windows and Christ painted on wood, by the artist Antonio Boatto.

Beautiful arched bridge over the Malgher canal, it is a little narrow due to the passage of several cars at the same time, but very characteristic.

Il Torresin

Highlight • Monument

The Torresin originates from the ancient Trevisana gate, through which the Callalta coming from Treviso entered the medieval fortified nucleus. Under the dominion of the Serenissima it was the residence of the mayor. The current building, however, is a reconstruction from the 1930s.

The new church, designed by the architect. L. Candiani of Treviso, was begun on 9 March 1955 and opened to the public in September 1962.
