Rose and Thistle Inn, Alwinton

Highlight • Pub

Fantastic Pub in Alwinton. Been in the same family since 1904, and always very keen to welcome cyclists. Camping offered in the field adjacent the pub. Vegetarian Friendly.

Usway Burn Trail

Highlight (Segment) • River

A preposterously pretty, smooth trail running vaguely downstream from the ford at Fairhaugh (remote farmhouse, anyone) to Batailshiel Haugh. From here it becomes a wider track, but it's no less spectacular for all that.

17.0 km

View of the Cheviot Hills

Highlight • Forest

This area has mainly been felled and new trees planted. Vast swathes of storm damage with trees blown over exist

Tip by

5

17.3 km

Quite nice tracks to ride on. Be prepared for exertion though. This is not road biking.

Tip by

6

17.7 km

The contour of the land is varied and spectacular in this location

Tip by

7

22.9 km

Once at elevated heights at the first climb, the views are nice and possible to see for miles around.

Tip by

8

23.7 km

This trail has a decent hill climb at the beginning. The surface was farm grassland, it was compact enough to be called a decent surface. Be prepared to have a physical start
