This half-timbered building with a solid stone base is described as the second oldest late Gothic half-timbered town hall in Germany.
Its upper floor is set on the city wall on the Lahn side. The battlements of the city wall ran through the house on both sides. The central pillar made of oak that once supported the upper floors was examined dendrochronologically (by comparing the annual rings) before the reconstruction in the 1980s, using largely original parts. This revealed that the tree was felled in 1432.
The building with the hipped roof on the Lahn side served as Dausenau's town hall and administrative headquarters and offered the local court the opportunity to arrest people.
