Pedestrian and Cycle Bridge Over the B47

Highlight • Bridge

If you are on the Zellertal cycle path, change here to the other side of the B47. The ascent and descent to the bridge are a bit confusing. I had to do an extra lap on each side to see where it was going.

Generationenplatz Rest Area

Highlight • Rest Area

The generation square is right on the bike path. It is a nicely arranged rest area with a large bench and a table. There are other benches in the shade. It also has a ping pong table and a punching field.

Zellertal Memorial

Highlight • Monument

The idea of building the "Zellertal Memorial" was born soon after the First World War and the memorial was officially inaugurated on July 15, 1928. It is dedicated to "the Palatinate and Hessian fallen soldiers as they fought and died together in enemy territory".

Each of the 6 pillars of the pillared hall stands for a Zellertal community: Einselthum, Harxheim, Niefernheim, Zell, Mölsheim and Wachenheim. Due to its special location, its openwork, upward-pointing shape and its height of 15 meters and a diameter of 6.5 meters, it still has a special long-distance effect.

Every year on the “Memorial Day” in November, citizens of all Zellertal communities meet for a joint commemoration ceremony for those who died in the two world wars.
