View of Nims River and Schönecken Castle

A beautiful reservoir with a weir and rapids on this side of the castle.

Here you have created a great rest area with a wave lounger in an exposed position that offers a wonderful view of Rittersdorf, with the castle and the church of St. Martin.
There is also a large cross here, but unfortunately I could not find out anything about its origin and meaning. Nevertheless, it was adorned with a fresh floral arrangement.

The current area of the Königswaldchen was used for agriculture until 1850 and then reforested. There is now a 45-hectare recreational forest in the immediate vicinity of the city. In the 1990s alone, the city of Bitburg planted more than 65,000 trees around the Königswaldchen on an area of around 15 hectares. In order to ensure long-term sustainable, environmentally friendly, socially acceptable and economically viable management of the approx. 870 ha large city forest, the forest is managed on the basis of the FSC guideline for sustainable forestry.
In the Königswaldchen there is therefore also a 3 km long forest adventure trail, which presents information about the topic "forest". It gives children and adults the opportunity to rediscover the environment and in particular the forest habitat. 10 different stations invite you to participate, try out and learn.
The Königswaldchen is a very popular local recreation area, where you can find joggers, hikers and walkers.

Beautiful avenue of trees. Even seen a single orchid. Once again my observation is correct that cowslips and orchids often share the same location. There weren't many. Unfortunately B51 disturbing. Traffic can be heard far into the grove.

Lounger With a View of the Nims

Highlight • Viewpoint

Away from the cycle path between Bitburg-Stahl and Rittersdorf, in the Nimstal, is this great lounger (sponsored by a well-known Bitburger bike shop), with a view of the Nims and the countryside. Here you can rest and relax. You can hardly see the nearby federal highway B50. A nice place.

Taking advantage of the great weather to go for a spin again after a long break ☀️👩‍🦯

Small head-free round.
Went straight to the office in casual clothes, laced up hiking shoes 🥾🥾 and did a lap over Rittersdorf from Bitburg.
What a dream weather it is, 22° on October 28th in the Eifel, in a t-shirt and even that was almost too warm for me 🥵🥵🥵. But it's still great 🍁🌞🍂🎃
