It is one of the two memorial stones erected for Lancasters that were shot down during the night of 21 to 22 June 1944 after an attack on a refinery for synthetic oil in Wesseling near Cologne. No fewer than 37 of the 133 Lancasters were lost that night. The memorial stone for the crew of the Lancaster ME782 LE-N of the 630 Sqn was donated by the Tourist Office of Oud-Turnhout.
