The park at the Carl-Alexander-Halde is equipped with lots of play equipment and seating. With its clearings, groves, vantage points and rest areas, the park invites you to linger, walk, cycle and discover. From the red mountain foyer you can hike over a 25-meter-long suspension bridge, the Schwebesteg and the Himmelsstiege to the Halde or you can take the gravel path to the summit. In 1982, during the first work on a new retirement home, the foundation walls of a large castle complex were uncovered, on the site of which a castle had already stood in the 13th century that belonged to the Lords of Setterich. The remains that were excavated there essentially date from the 16th century. Today only a fragment of the wall and the archway remain, which has been a listed building since 1986. A retirement home and a parish center, which still houses a historic fountain, were built on the remaining area of the castle, which no longer exists.
