St. John's Church Bächlingen

Highlight • Religious Site

The church in Bächlingen was the mother church for a wide district, until 1553 the Langenburger went to Bächlingen in the church.
The church, on whose early construction history there is no evidence, today has as elders the dating to the early 14th century choral tower, the age of the church is likely to be 1000 years.
There are two treasures inside: an outstanding epitaph of 1360 by the knight Burghard Reze von Bechlingen (died 1320) and magnificent wall and ceiling paintings in the choir around 1350/60. The Bächlinger church has John the Baptist as a patron saint, she was in ancient times baptistery.
Guided tours can be registered at the parish office Langenburg phone 07905/230 or at the family Mühlenstedt, tel. 07905/782

Nice view up to Langenburg Castle. The "ascent" to the castle is rewarded with a wonderful view of the Jagst valley.
