July 3, 2021,Eine Nacht auf dem Kungsleden von Abisko aus
Today we only did 2 smaller laps, so it should be a night hike. That was my plan. Sabine agreed to accompany me for a few kilometers and then to turn around.
What can I say, she has been with me all the way. I would not have expected this! 😍

Our last day was an easy 9-mile romp into Abisko. Bittersweet, because I truly didn't want this incredible hike to end. The incredible deep canyons full of blue glacial water that the trail follows were a highlight - as was the well-earned beer at the end in Abisko!
Early in the morning, we left the STF hut in Abiskojaure and set off on the final leg of the Kungsleden Trail toward Abisko. The trail led us through Abisko National Park, initially along Lake Abeskojávri, whose still, clear waters glittered in the morning light. The landscape was wide and open, framed by rolling hills and sparse birch forests. The …

Today we finally started the first stage of the Kungsleden / Dag Hammarskjöldsleden. The Kunsleden is a hiking trail in Sweden from Abisko to Hemavan and is about 440 kilometers long. We actually walk the Dag Hammarskjöldsleden from Abisko to Nikkaluokta, a popular variation on the northern part of the Kungsleden. The first five days we walk on the path …

September 10, 2022,Hiking Day 1/8 Kungsleden
A wonderful plan becomes reality. We start the first part of the Kungsleden in Sweden. By plane to Stockholm and by night train to Abisko. And off we go! The absolute highlight of the hiking trail through the wilderness of Lapland, in addition to the always breathtaking views, is the absolute inaccessibility! No cell phone reception, no wifi, no electricity, …

For the first time during the hike, we got up early and started at 7:15 AM, determined to complete the final stretch. Since camping isn’t allowed in Abisko National Park, we planned to finish the hike today and maybe catch an earlier train. The morning sun was already intense, with temperatures climbing into the high twenties later in the day. …
August 8, 2021,Tag 1 Kungsleden
Started at noon in the sunshine in Abisko. It went through the Abisko National Park. Clouds came up during the day. Outside the national park, found a nice storage place in the sparse birch forest. Just in time after setting up the tent, the rain started.

Here it is, the last day… The last time I had to roll my self-inflating mattress, to stash my sleeping bag in the compressor bag, to put all my ziplock bags into the big backpack. The last time I had to fold my tent. The last outdoor breakfast, the last morning photo. This felt weird. How could we be on …
