Punta Giglio Tower

Highlight • Monument

The Punta Giglio tower, or "Torre de la Punta del Lliri" in Alghero Catalan, was built in the first half of the 16th century, but was presumably abandoned in the 18th century. After the Great War, the Royal Navy built a significant military battery around the ancient fortification, which was used during the Second World War; on 27 October 1943 the Royal Army took possession of the site, which was abandoned at the end of the conflict.

From the tower you can enjoy a wonderful view of the sea!

The first stretch was a well-maintained forest path with beautiful vegetation on both sides. The path ended at Punta Giglio. A military outpost was located here during World …

A beautiful hike to Punta Giglio at Capo Caccia lies behind us. There is a military bastion of the Germans from the 2nd World War. Great views of the near and far rock formations.

The entrance to the Punta Giglio natural area requires payment of a ticket
In the first part of the tour, we decided to go down to the right towards the cliff and the path that runs along the sea. This stretch is definitely suitable for experienced people wearing suitable trekking footwear.

Very nice hike with great views of the sea. Good footwear recommended.
