Calaceite Tower

The Calaceite tower is a 16th-century watchtower that stands on a cliff about 40 meters high, on the coast of Torrox. It was part of the network of almenara towers that used bonfires to warn of the arrival of Barbary pirates. Today it is preserved on private land, so it can only be viewed from below. At its feet, the sea holds another treasure: the wreck of the Delfín, a steamship sunk in 1937 during the Civil War, today one of the most visited diving spots on the Costa del Sol.

Virgen del Mar Memorial

On the steep coast you can find this rock, on which a white miniature chapel stands. A few niches have been carved into the rock, in which, among other things, a picture of the Virgin del Carmen (patron saint of fishermen and sailors) is kept. El Acebuchal Village

El Acebuchal is a small, picturesque village, often referred to as "the lost village". It is located between Frigiliana and Cómpeta in the Sierras de Tejeda, Almijara y Alhama Natural Park. After the Spanish Civil War, the village was evacuated in 1948 and remained abandoned for almost 50 years. In the late 1990s, descendants of the original inhabitants began to rebuild the village of El Acebuchal. Today it is a popular destination for rural tourism with whitewashed houses, cobbled streets and a traditional restaurant.

The surrounding area is worth seeing and the secluded location makes for a real break from modern life. The tour is best done via Frigiliana, with a route of around seven kilometers, partly on dirt tracks. El Acebuchal is a unique example of the revitalization of a historic village in Andalusia.
