An idyllic wooden bridge with a wooden plank path leads over the Hellbach stream.

Next door is a good place for a rest in this beautiful natural landscape.

Krebssee

Highlight • Lake

The Krebssee is easy to reach and walk around from the Helbachtal.
If you approach it from the east from the old freight route, a very steep descent leads down to the bathing area, which is really fun. I would not recommend the drive back up. To continue your journey, you can first take the path along the shore, from which it later leads to other paths that are not so steep.

Nestled in lush flora and fauna, the nutrient-poor and turquoise-blue Krebssee with its sparkling clear water is hidden. It has a visibility depth of up to 7 meters.
An idyllic view of nature invites you to linger. Many species of dragonflies with their glittering wings find their habitat here. If you are lucky, you can even spot a kingfisher.
You reach the Krebssee when you leave Mölln in the direction of Lehmrade on the Gudower Weg (L287). Opposite the campsite, take a paved forest path on the right to the “Tiefe Kuhlen” car park.
From here, continue south (approx. 3.6 km).
Here you will find crystal clear water and a small sandy bathing area with two benches.
The walk here is worth it and is definitely recommended.

I've ridden this section twice and think it's super nice.
Unfortunately, the last time, a whole stretch was destroyed by forest machines, which makes the route technically more demanding.
So not quite as enjoyable.

From the lake promenade in Zarrentin you have fantastic views of the Schaalsee. You can bike here relaxed along the lake, but of course you have to be considerate of many passers-by - but it's still very worthwhile.

It's almost impossible to imagine nowadays and yet it was like that. It's good that it is reminded here so that it is not forgotten.

The Schaalsee is nestled within the biosphere reserve of the same name and, at over 70 meters deep, is considered Northern Germany's deepest clearwater lake. Those who wish to swim here should only do so at designated areas—for example, in Dargow, Lassahn, Seedorf, or at the Zarrentin lido. The water quality is excellent, perfect for a refreshing dip on the go. The protected natural environment surrounding the lake is rich in species and tranquil—ideal for those who appreciate peace, clean air, and clear water. The beer and coffee garden is a pleasant place to relax.
