Here you have the opportunity to switch to the other side of the Hellmühler river with dry feet.

The "Wanderbriefkasten" located directly at the bridge is also worth seeing.

Hellmühler Fließ

Highlight • River

The Hellmühler Fliess is a natural body of water in the district of Barnim in north-eastern Brandenburg. In its course from west to east, the flow largely follows a system of channel lakes formed by the Ice Age, consisting of Liepnitzsee, Obersee and Hellsee, which it drains one after the other in the direction of the Biesenthal Basin. Southwest of Biesenthal, the river flows into the Regesesee, the origin of the river Finow. The total length of the Hellmühler Fliess is around 7.5 kilometers from the outlet of the Liepnitzsee.

The Biesenthal Basin is a nature reserve in the Barnim district in the southwest of the Brandenburg municipality of Biesenthal.

The 990 hectare area is part of the Barnim Nature Park and includes a glacial landscape, recognizable by the hilly landscape with Kames and Zungenbeck lakes, including Mechesee, Hellsee, Liepnitzsee, Plötzensee, Regesesee and Streesee.

The boundaries of the basin are determined in the east and south by the Barnim plateau, in the west by a terminal moraine from the Vistula Ice Age and in the north by the Eberswalder glacial valley. Run through the edge of the basin, which unite in front of Biesenthal to the Finow-Fließ. The Biesenthal basin is drained by the Finow flow system via the Eberswalder glacial valley to the Oder.

The landscape was formed by dead ice in the Vistula Ice Age around 15,000 years ago. In addition, mixed deciduous forests, wet meadows and moors shape the landscape.

As a fauna and flora habitat, the Biesenthal basin is part of the Europe-wide Natura 2000 protected area. Part of the NSG is owned by the NABU Foundation for National Natural Heritage. On the edge of the basin, the town of Biesenthal lies in the north, the village of Lanke in the west and the villages of Lobetal and Rüdnitz in the south.

Highway to Hellsee....
I know what you're thinking now and you're right. Very tired.

Today through the forest in beautiful weather. Very varied landscape.

Today's tour was really nice and certainly not the last lap I did here. It was varied and never boring. I can only recommend this tour. For amateur photographers, this path is a highlight because of the light show at this time of year at 10 a.m. There are so many motives waiting for you. Definitely worth detours to the …

Today was meeting point in Biesenthal. With seven hiking friends we started at Heideberg in the direction of Pfauenfiß. We hiked on great hiking trails through the forest towards Rüdnitzer Fliess. Due to the wetlands we also had a few encounters with a few mosquitoes. Past the Hellmühler Fliess we continued in the direction of Plötzensee. From there we hiked …

The plan was actually to go on a nice bike ride today, but I spontaneously decided to go for a hike through the Biesenthal Basin. And it was the right decision. I set off relatively early in Lobetal to avoid all the "Father's" Day hustle and bustle and hiked towards Hellmühler Fließ. The area is one of my favorite routes. …

A sunny working day in February and apart from us there are only a few hikers on the trails in the Biesental basin. The narrow valley of the Hellseer Fliess is the highlight of this tour.

A relaxed tour that took us from Lobetal to Hellmühle and through the Biesenthal basin back to Lobetal. Most of the time the path leads through the forest. The fresh air allows you to breathe deeply again. On a beautiful day like today you meet many other hikers and walkers.

A short past-birthday trip with my daughters on a velvety sunny weekday: Student and retired life also has its advantages. The first part through the Biesenthal Basin was fantastic, the second part along the Berlin-Usedom cycle path was practical. Overall, a great pleasure.

... today we went to the northeast of Brandenburg. A relaxed round through the NSG on mostly easy-to-run forest trails.
It was a bit quieter on the west side of the Hellmühle. The paths were very narrow and we had to climb over branches and trees at one point or another.
On the east side it went on via the …
