Großer Müggelberg – Highest Natural Point in Berlin

Highlight • Summit

At 114.7 meters, the Müggelberg is the highest natural elevation in Berlin. The "summit" is conveniently located directly on a nice short trail that is flowing at first, then slightly uphill and then again steeply downhill at the end. The whole area is full of small trails that are worth discovering.

View of Müggelsee

Highlight • Viewpoint

The Müggelbaude stood on this spot until the 1980s. Built in 1911 as a small wooden hut with a view of the Bismarckwarte, the pub was to develop into a popular meeting place. Just a few meters away began the famous Death Railway, a toboggan run almost a kilometer long, the end of which was at the Teufelssee. Part of the track is now used and expanded by extreme cyclists (the facility no longer exists).
At the end of the Second World War, the Bismarckwarte was blown up by the Volkssturm, the landlord was banned from the forest and found his hut plundered and neglected. In 1947, the pub changed hands and was reopened. It was always well attended until the 1980s. In 1988, however, the hut was closed and completely demolished. Only this viewing point remains of it.
