Hiking
The La Herse fountain is a mythical and unmissable spot in the Bellême forest.
Two stones bear Latin inscriptions, seemingly testifying to the fountain's Gallo-Roman origin. On the first, one can read APHRODISIUM (dedicated to Aphrodite) and on the second DIIS INFERIS VENERI MARTI ET MERCURIO SACRUM (consecrated to the underworld gods, Venus, Mars, and Mercury).
The ferruginous waters of the fountain have been renowned for their medicinal virtues since the 17th century.
