Caneto is a small village that, after being expropriated and its inhabitants forcibly displaced by the construction of the El Grado reservoir, has been repopulated in recent decades, eventually having a small community of inhabitants and managing to reopen the public school. Caneto also stands out for having a small Buddhist community.
