The international landmark of Jaipur is the unique facade of the so-called Palace of Winds. Maharaja Sawaj Pratap Singh (1778-1803) commissioned the building in 1799 as part of the City Palace to allow his ladies-in-waiting to observe the street life without being seen themselves.
