In the Gelpe Valley, not far from the historic Thomaskotten, you'll find an overgrown rock face in the forest – the silent remnant of a small, old quarry. Greywacke, a hard natural stone used for buildings, roads, and workshops in the valley, was once extracted here. Today, nature has reclaimed the site: moss, roots, and trees cover the former quarry, making it appear almost like a natural rock formation. Thus, this unassuming rock still serves as a reminder of the early industrial history of the Gelpe Valley. 🌿🪨
