The ENCI quarry is a large limestone quarry in the Sint‑Pietersberg near Maastricht, where marl was extracted for cement from the ENCI factory (Eerste Nederlandse Cement Industrie) since 1926. After extraction stopped in 2018, the pit was transformed into a striking nature reserve with blue lakes, steep white cliffs, and new chalk grassland, protected as part of the Sint‑Pietersberg Natura 2000 zone. From the viewing platform, you look directly into this landscape.
