The main gate of Coburg Fortress, also known as the Peterstor, is far more than just an entrance – it is an impressive testament to fortress architecture and the representation of the Dukes of Saxe-Coburg. Its current appearance largely dates back to around 1600 under Duke Johann Casimir. It is a classic tower gate, formerly protected by a drawbridge. The massive walls and arrow slits underscore the fortified character of the complex.
