The church was built until 1407 in late Gothic style. The chancel of the church, as well as parts of the tower are preserved to this day. In 1755, the nave was rebuilt or extended in Baroque style. Noteworthy are the organ in a baroque prospect inside the church and the prayer niches for professors and students, which originated as a university town from the time, as well as the baptismal font from Altdorfer Marmor. The St. Laurentius Church is the Evangelical Lutheran town church of Altdorf (near Nuremberg) and the deanery church in the Altdorf deanery. Located in the center of the old town, it shapes the appearance of the Middle Franconian town. Built in the 14th century as a three-aisled Gothic basilica, the church building was largely rebuilt by 1755 and given baroque elements.
