In 2014 this monument to Fyodor Mikhailovich Dostoyevsky was erected. The Russian writer visited the city several times between 1863 and 1867. He traveled there to gamble - just like in Wiesbaden and Baden Baden. In his world-famous novel "The Gambler", he interwoven these three places into the fictional "Roulette Castle".

In a letter to his wife from Homburg in 1876, Dostoyevsky is said to have written, "I played for ten hours and in the end I lost."
