The old coastal bridges on Madeira are inseparably linked to the island's historic roads (especially the Antiga ER 101). Many of the old stone arch bridges and coastal paths have been replaced by modern tunnels, but have been preserved as popular historical relics, photo opportunities, or for adventurous hikes.
