Great castle to see if you are in the area! The area of the ruin is well maintained and organised, you can take a short stroll around the castle (5 mins loop if you stop and take pictures). It is possible to park just right outside the castle. Really, not many people know about this castle!

Lónyay is the name of an Evangelical-Reformed Hungarian noble family whose ancestral line reaches back to the High Middle Ages. In 1627, the Lónyays received the Hungarian barony, two lines of the family attained the Hungarian countship in 1871 and 1896 respectively, and in 1917 Elemér Lónyay was elevated to the Hungarian princely rank. Members of the widely branched family still live today in Austria and Hungary.
