The Wiltshire Monument commemorates the men of the 4th and 5th Battalions of the British Wiltshire Regiment who gave their lives for freedom at Schuytgraaf. These heavy fighting took place in the aftermath of the Battle of Arnhem and had a major impact on the course of Allied operations. Nevertheless, they were long overshadowed by the fighting of the British and Polish airborne units north of the Rhine.
