Beyond the dam that borders the trout pond in the center of Ilsenburg lies the Friedenspark (Peace Park), formerly the Bürgerpark (Citizens' Park). Attractive water cascades and a fountain invite visitors to linger. An old wheelhouse (part of the "From Ore to Metal" industrial trail) opens up to the viewer amidst mature trees. The site of the current school was once an iron rolling mill.
