A particular highlight of the visit, for visitors with suitable abilities, is the very steep and extremely narrow climb to the 60-meter-high dome of the basilica; you will definitely be rewarded with a magnificent panoramic view. The €2 is more than well spent. The very narrow spiral staircases are sometimes only accessible by shuttle service.
Note the strict visitor criteria; they have a reason for them. Overweight and claustrophobic visitors will have major problems!!! The entrance is somewhat hidden at the rear, outside the basilica.
