Gravel riding
The charter for the founding of Lalinde as a bastide was signed in London on June 26, 1267, by Prince Edward, son of Henry III. The fortifications consisted of ramparts to the south and north, as well as a complex enclosure with several successive defensive lines, supported by ditches. The dimensions of this system are unusual and made Lalinde an unmistakable bastide.
