The State of Franklin Linear Trail is an easy, paved path that winds through Johnson City, offering a convenient urban escape. You'll experience a mix of local businesses and residential areas, making it a great spot for a casual walk, run, or bike ride. With only 28 feet (8 metres) of elevation gain over 3.1 miles (5.0 km), it's a very accessible route for nearly everyone.

Planning your visit is straightforward, as parking is generally available, particularly near downtown Johnson City. The trail is open year-round, but be mindful of busy road crossings, especially in the southern sections, which may require extra caution. It's a multi-use trail, so you'll share the path with cyclists and other pedestrians.

This trail is notable for its connectivity, linking North to South Johnson City and providing access to the historic C&O Depot. It also connects to the "Downtown Spur" and "Tweetsie Trail Spur," opening up possibilities for longer adventures.
