Our history
The Wildse Hut has been around for generations. From the 16th century onwards, it was forbidden to erect permanent buildings in the Beerse Maas. This is how plank huts emerged in the polder. These huts appeared in the spring when the Beers had passed and were dismantled when the cannon shots from Grave announced the arrival of the water again. During that time, an innkeeper, so-called ‘Hutner‘, lived there, who poured a drink or beer and provided a hearty snack. Some of these huts are still recognisable as a place, such as the Wildse hut.
